A small, friendly private family yard in North Yorkshire is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic full-time groom to join us on a long-term basis.
We currently have 1 horse and 1 pony, soon to be extending the herd, so are looking for someone who takes pride in high standards of horse care and enjoys working in a relaxed, family-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Mucking out
- Turning out and bringing in
- Feeding and grooming
- Tack cleaning
- Poo picking
- Maintaining high yard standards
- Schooling horses depending on ability and experience
- Making use of on-site ménage and horse walker
- Hacking on the property and locally
- Supporting paddock management
- Working alongside our groundsman to maintain stable yard and turnout areas
- Assisting with additional responsibilities within the wider grounds during quieter periods
- Assisting with loading trailers and preparing for shows
- Working in a friendly setting with children
- Occasional help with other family animals
- Sole charge and holiday cover at certain times of year
The Ideal Candidate
- Competent and confident in all areas of horse care
- Capable rider, not a must but preferred
- Capable of working independently and as part of a team
- Flexible and reliable
- Experience essential; formal qualifications not required but regarded
- Positive attitude and long-term mindset
Hours
- Approximately 40–45 hours per week
- The 40 hours can be spread flexibly across the week
- Standard day starts at 7:30am, typically running through to 5:30pm with a 2-hour break spread across the day
- 4 hours on a Saturday are included within the weekly total hours
- Flexibility required to work earlier or later than standard hours by prior agreement
- Hours may vary slightly between summer and winter
- Working patterns are open to discussion for the right candidate
Accommodation
A lovely separate gatehouse with a small garden is available. Please note: utility bills are not included.
No pets to begin with.
