Experience with Horses

I have a BA (Hons) in Equine Management (2:1) from Myerscough University. My last job (2025/2026) was on a stud and competition yard. I have handled stallions day to day and during collections & helped with the AI process of mares. I also went to numerous working hunter and show jumping shows and helped pack the lorry for stay aways. I have experience handling broodmares, foals & youngsters & have helped care for mum & foal after birth. I have an excellent foundation in groundwork & have experience long reining & lunging. The yard was also a livery yard so I have experience dealing with clients & looking after a wide range of horses. I also worked on a showing production yard, where I also dealt with a yard made up of mainly stallions. Whilst completing my A levels I worked on a local livery yard where I was regularly in sole charge. I have my own 16hh Irish Draught gelding called Guinness who I am currently bringing back into work after an injury. I previously volunteered at my local riding school where I helped people of all ages learn how to ride & helped out in the holidays with activities for the children. I also volunteered at a racehorse rehoming yard & looked after goats, sheep & a pig. During this time I also volunteered at an RDA riding centre. I have extensive experience with rehabbing and bringing horses back into work, after owning a mare that needed rehab & vet care.

Strengths and Weaknesses

I have extensive experience with horses. I have worked on many different yards & I am happy handling all types of horses. I have dealt with clients & also with farriers, physios, vets, etc & understand how to be professional & friendly. I have a strong foundation in groundwork & flatwork. I work well in a team but can also work alone & use initiative. I understand how much hard work goes into looking after horses & maintaining a yard. I pride myself on keeping the yard clean & tidy. I would like to work for someone who can mentor me & teach me how to improve my turning out for shows; plaiting, clipping, etc.

Requirements

I would need accommodation for myself & a stable for my horse. Riding would be a bonus.
