Experience with Horse

I have over 10 years experience of owning horses and around 20 years of riding having started from the age of 4.

I have had a previous role working on a yard mucking out, turning out and bringing in horses, putting them on and off the walker, feeding, and general maintenance of the facilities.

I currently work at a polo yard, duties include mucking out, turning out and bringing in horses, riding the horses, keeping the horses tidy and treating any illness, and maintaining they yard and the fields.

I am confident riding any horse and have worked with green/problem horses in the past with great appreciation from the owners. I school horses to a high standard and I am confident hacking out on and off the road.

Key Skills

I am a fast and efficient worker being able to take on several tasks at the same time and ensuring they are completed on time. I am also happy to work as part of a team with larger tasks.

I have also been trusted with sole charge of yards when the owners are away.

I have been clipping my own horse for several years and I clip the horses where I work. I take pride in the turnout of horses making sure they always look their best.

I have experience riding many different horses from cobs to high level show jumping horses, polo horses, and youngstock. I am confident handling all kinds of different horses with varying temperaments.

Strengths and Weaknesses

I have had the opportunity to work with and ride many young and green horses and it is something that I always look forward to and enjoy. I take great pride and pleasure of helping them progress and giving them good experiences which set them up for the rest of their ridden career.

I would be keen to expand my knowledge with backing and breaking in youngstock as my first hand experience with this is limited.

What makes me stand out is my determination and hardworking nature, giving my best effort at all times. I take pride in my work ensuring all horses are well cared for and that the yard is looking it’s best so that clients have the best experience.

Requirements

In my next job I hope to continue to improve my current knowledge and to improve and gain new knowledge and experience by learning from more experienced members of staff so that I continue to learn and progress in my career. I would be particularly interested in gaining qualifications and I would be eager to gain a trailer or hgv license given the opportunity.
