Experience with Horses
From 2020 when I brought my daughter a Welsh Dx was when horses became a part of my life, from 2021 I have had him in my permanent care and dealt with him on a minimum of twice a day ever since. My initial thought when I became self employed was to cover all the jobs people haven’t got time to do, but since Aug 2022 my work has been centred around working on a TB stud and an assisted livery. I deal with everything from foals to Shetland ponies to Racers to ISH’s. This can be vary putting them on and off the walker, leading them to prevent their legs swelling whilst in the stable or when the Farrier or vet comes
Key Skills
Having the willingness to work in all weathers and all aspects regarding the Welfare of the animals. I enjoy the challenges the industry has and I know that everyday is a school day so my want to learn and improve in all areas.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• Everyday there is always something new to learn, working with different breeds including my own brings different personalities and characteristics
• I would definitely like to improve my riding skills, then I can have more versatility about the roles that I work in
• Being an Ex servicemen I have a can do attitude, attention to detail and honest working ethic.. I also have my Class1 Hgv license that is up to date therefore I can add an element that most can’t.
Requirements
• I am willing to do any part of the work, I can work in a team or individually to a high standard
• Yes I am requiring accommodation with the role, I do have a teenage daughter who may stay periodically or when she wants something.
• I have a Welsh Dx and a Full Belgium draft Mare that I’d require a place for. I also have a Beagle x Basset dog that I rescued last year and comes with me everywhere I go.
• I have engaged with the Talking Therapy team to help me with my PTSD. This is ongoing but can be adjusted to suit my working commitments.
• I have no holidays booked, owning my own horses has put an end to this.
