Experience with Horses
I’ve been around horses my whole life, from volunteering at my local yard to getting my level 3 diploma in equine management; it’s always had a place in my life. I have experience in stud and vet work when I was at Tomlinson Equine, handling foals, weanlings, yearlings, brood mares and stallions, and also fit hunt horses when I worked ad hoc, getting them ready for the season and maintaining their fitness. My time at Hartpury College taught me all about horse anatomy and how to run a business. This also contributed massively to my ability to take sole charge as a part of my training, which included yard duties where my colleagues and I would have to run the barns independently. In the two years at college, I rode twice weekly, which improved my riding abilities to no end.
Following a gap year after Hartpury, I spent six months at David Britnell Eventing, where I further developed my technical skills in equine first aid, training exercises and challenging behaviours.
Returning to Gloucestershire, I freelanced around my home county, did some hospitality work and then returned to hunting on a private family yard where I had sole charge full-time and hunted with the Cotswold.
Now into Spring 2026, I am regularly freelancing for an event rider and am open to a range of flexible options following my graduation from university in the coming months
Key Skills
I love working with other people and recognise the importance of a positive team attitude in the equine industry. I also love sole charge and can get the job done without aid.
I have experience in:
stud, vets, hunting, eventing, livery, natural horsemanship, dressage
I can competently administer equine first aid.
I am an accomplished rider and am particularly passionate about dressage, but am confident with jumping.
I am trained to a decent level at clipping, can plait confidently and have high levels of presentation.
Strengths and Weaknesses
I get along well with all people from all walks of life and can communicate well with my colleagues. I’m formally qualified to work with horses, as well as having real-life experience in many aspects of the industry, which I think is a proven combination for a successful groom.

I love a routine and thrive in a controlled environment; this is what I most look forward to when starting a new job.
