Experience with Horses

I have worked at riding schools, dressage yards, stud yards, livery yards and training yards so I am used to handling all horses from youngstock to stallions and ponies to competition horses. I have recently done a lot of work on a western yard and gained experience in horsemanship. I have recently completed my Level 3 in Equine Management (Science) from Hartpury College.
I am currently working at the Beaufort Hunt gaining experience in a new area for myself developing my knowledge and skills of different methods of working with horses. In this role I have allocated horses that I care for every day and prepare for days hunting. I also ride 1-2 lots per day out in the open to prepare them for hunting, this includes canter work and riding and leading.
I am not looking for anything specific I am open to both yard-based jobs as well as anything office/reception based. I have lots of customer service experience after working for Fairfax and Favor for a year in one of their shops.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I can work both as part of a team as well as individually having proved this by taking sole charge of a yard of 20+ horses.
I have prepared horses for both dressage and show jumping competitions before including plaiting up.
I have frequently been asked to ride young horses for owners due to my balance and empathy, this has been riding 2-year-olds on the western yard, giving horses their first rides in English tack, and schooling young horses including flying changes on 4-year-olds.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I enjoy working with young horses and watching them grow and learn. At the same time, I love to be able to improve my skill range and learn new ways of working with horses whether this is working horses on the ground or riding school masters.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
My confidence is something I would like to improve, I have a lot of respect for people within the industry with more experience than me so often end up comparing myself to others.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I put my all into the work I do and will always put the horses first, I have lots of experience from different angles within the industry and am always keen to learn more. My experience outside of the equine sector means I can talk to clients with clear communication skills and always look presentable.

Anything related to horses, I am keen to expand my experience and skill range so this doesn’t have to be yard work!
