Experience with Horses
(the below is taken from a professional CV I recently had written)
Highly experienced professional with twenty years’ experience as a specialist police horse trainer. Currently holding the privilege and honour of
being a part of the rich history and continuity of the Mounted Branch at Imber Court, playing a unique role as a Civilian Police Horse Trainer in
maintaining the tradition of excellence and service to the community. Possesses strong horsemanship skills, professional qualifications in Equine
Science and Horse Studies and significant practical experience. Experienced in working with law enforcement agencies. Has a keen eye for detail
to assess each horse’s unique personality and learning style. Dedicated, responsive, meticulous and detail-oriented to ensure the horse’s comfort
and safety. Has a genuine love for horses and is motivated to provide the highest quality care and training to each horse. Able to work calmly,
patiently and consistently to achieve desired results. Has excellent oral and written communication skills, hardworking, able to work
independently or as part of a team and is willing to relocate anywhere in the UK.
Key Skills
Working alone,
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
As a civilian trainer my love is seeing a horse’s confidence develop.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I have never been a competitive or show rider but my perseverance and consistency has enabled me to support the Met with remounts over the last 20 years.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I genuinely care and my work ethic is good. If I was to stay within the police service either as a trainer or groom my previous work experience would hopefully speak for itself. The other role that would interest me would potentially be within an equine college as I have through voluntary work gained experience of working with young people.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
I feel with my experience I would be well suited to a management/supervisory role, however I would be happy to continue as a trainer/groom. I would like ideally to stay within the police/civil service. Alternatively an equine college role would also be of interest to me.
• Do you need accommodation?
Potentially for a short time if this is available, as I would be hoping to relocate.
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
No.
• Do you have any ongoing commitments? I do have a dog but would have to employ a dog walker if the role did not allow dogs at the workplace.
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
No.
