Experience
Having worked and ridden a range of horses from a young age, from eventers to hunters and plenty in-between, I am confident and bold in dealing and riding with young, fit and sharp sport horses. Coming from a family of experienced eventers, veterinary nurses and farriers, I have had plentiful exposure to efficient equine management, care and first aid.
I see myself as a hard-working and approachable member of the yard who is confident talking to managers, clients and suppliers, and sorting out any potential issues or resolving problems that may occur. I am capable of working both in a team or independently, easily turning my hand to leadership roles or working alone using my own initiative.
Having returned from travelling abroad over last winter, I hadan office job which didn’t suit me, so I have now made the decision that I would like to pursue and further my career within horses and eventing.
Key Skills
• Schooling and training (wide variety including hacking, flatwork and jumping)
• Turn out for competitions and overall, with attention to detail.
• Plaiting and pulling manes and tails to high standard.
• Clipping & trimming
• Lunging & long reining
• Yard management
• Wound management & basic first aid
• Working alone and with others
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I enjoy learning horses characters as I work with them and building trust, I also enjoy keeping horses looking their best and the work that goes alongside maintaining fit, healthy horses.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I would like to finesse my skills to 5* level, both with horse care and turning out. I would like to begin to improve my eventing career with the aim to step up next year.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I am a young, fit, sympathetic, hard worker who adores working with horses and everything alongside them. I am ambitious, determined and willing to get jobs done, and reach an end goal – regardless of how big or small it is!
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
Either gain experience working alongside a professional rider, or to work for a family where I become part of the team.
• Do you need accommodation?
Yes!
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
I would like to bring my well behaved, 8 y/o event horse with me, and would like the ability to ride him in the day and event on weekends (usually 2x a month!)
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
Just my horse!
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
No.
