Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I have been riding for almost 25 years. After a few years at a riding school I started Pony Club and then eventing as a teenager. I have owned and competed several of my own horses over the years training and competing them. I often end up riding horses that have been deemed difficult and require patience and perseverance. In recent years I have spent more time riding 3 & 4 year olds which has been an incredible learning experience.
At my current riding facility I regularly assist with grooming and coaching both at home and at competitions.
I also have a background in landscaping, so I am familiar with running various equipment, trucks and trailers. I am also used to work long, labour intensive hours.
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I work well as part of a team but have also shown that I can be trusted to work independently when necessary.
My extensive work history has helped me to develop time management, organizational and people skills.
I have experience working with young horse, both handling and riding. Also with difficult or “hot” horses.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I enjoy seeing horses grow and learn. Especially when you see them start to gain confidence and understanding of their job.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I haven;t had the opportunity to dedicate my time fully to working with horses. I would like to grow all of my basic skills in handling, grooming and riding.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
My maturity and extensive work history would bring a different dynamic that I think could be very useful to an y team I become part of.
