I am an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about all aspect of horse welfare. I’m a very active energetic person who is reliable, honest and hardworking. I have many years of experience working with horses in many different spheres, from international event horses, to horses with behavioral issues. I am confident working in fast paced environments and have a keen eye to detail when turning horses out to a high standard. I am competent and have experience in many areas including handling youngsters, fit competition horses and also following rehabilitation programs with injured horses. I also have experience managing a large livery yard, for which I had sole responsibility which demonstrates my ability to make decisions and use my own initiative. I have produced my event horse which I purchased as a 4 year old and I have competed him at 4* level alongside working full time. I also have experience as a freelance groom in the local area.

Employment

Sept 2022-Present, Customer Services Advisor, National Savings and Investment

For this role I am a part time telephone customer services advisor. I predominantly deal with customer complaints, but if they can’t be dealt with immediately I can escalate issues to my line manager.

Sept 2021-2022 Freelance Competition Groom/Rider

This role involved working on a local yard with event horses but also stallions, mares and foals. Alongside the day to day running of the yard I also hunted, evented, show jumped, took part in dressage competitions and also did some showing and I was involved with breaking and schooling the youngsters.

Sept 2017-Sept 2021 Groom, Andrew Heffernan Eventing

I started working for Andrew following a group riding lesson, where he approached me and asked if I would like to work on his yard. This was a very fast paced competition yard, my daily routine varied depending upon the needs of the horses and upcoming competitions; however on a daily basis it would generally consist of mucking out, exercising horses (riding, lunging or hand walking), clipping, plaiting, tackingup horses for clients, packing the lorry and organising equipment as required, also ensuring that each horse was fed correctly and administered the correct medications.

2016-2017 Freelance Groom/ Livery Yard Manager

For this role I was often in sole charge of the client’s yard, I was exercising horses at different levels, schooling, breaking and competing, and I also turned some of these horses out to a very high standard ready for hunting or competing.

2014-2016 Apprentice Groom, BS Equestrian

From leaving school I gained an apprenticeship as an Equine Groom and worked at BS Equestrian. This was predominantly a sales yard with competition horses and unbacked youngsters. I gained experience preparing horses for competitions and also preparing them for clients to view. On this yard I took horses hunting, I also competed, showjumping, dressage and low level eventing and also was involved in breaking and schooling as well as general yard duties
