Experience with Horses

I have over 15 years experience around horses, I used to own my own but she died a few years ago. I went to Bishop Burton College in 2012 and gained a level 3 diploma in horse management (Riding and Teaching) I’ve worked on livery yards and at a riding school and was teaching children from an early age. I have a great understanding of tasks such as grooming/plaiting and pulling, feeding and mucking out etc. I have great attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and organised stable environment and ensuring the wellbeing and happiness of the horses that I care for. I have great communication skills and work well with others. I currently help my friend out with her horses as the area I live in is short of jobs in this field and have worked as a chef for the last 10 years, but horses have always been my passion and is something I would like to get back into professionally. I help my friend with her 4 horses now as a hobbie and ride them for her as she struggles with a back injury.

Key Skills

I have extensive knowledge of all aspects of the equine industry except for studding. I have taught children at a riding schools, and used to compete with my own horse at showjumping and cross country competitions. I have broken in youngsters and worked with stallions. I enjoy getting stuck in and don’t mind getting my hands dirty, I’ve excelled at everything I have taken an interest to.I always give 100% in everything I do and I’m a great team worker as well as being able to work on my own initiative. I have a bubbly personality and get on with everybody from all walks of life. I am trained chef and have worked in this industry for the last ten years.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I am extremely passionate about everything to do with horses. I used to enjoy cross country the most and won many competitions but just general horse care is something that i take great enjoyment in as horses are genuinely so calming for me.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I haven’t worked in studding before and this is something that interests me a lot. I have some dressage skills but would like to improve on these.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I have a unique combination of skills , relevant experience and a demonstrated ability to adapt and excel in anything I put my mind to. My passion for horses is evident due to my experience and as previously mentioned is definitely what I would like to take further professionally. Additionally I have qualifications in this field and years of experience around horses. I’m also an excellent cook and have a passions for all animals in general.

Requirements

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

I would just like to get back into the equine industry in general and would like to leave the town i’m living in as there is lack of opportunity’s in this field.

• Do you need accommodation?

Preferably but would be willing to travel if not too long distance as I have my own car.

• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?

I do have a dog at home but would be able to rehome her with a family member if it came to it.

• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
