Experience with Horses

I started horseback riding when I was 5 years old, and now I practice show jumping with my own horse. I would love to experience a lot of things about the equestrian world through grooming jobs to become a good horse trainer and learn about horses to improve my show jumping level and also expand my future visions.

{This is my riding level}

  • I can jump 100cm and I competed in the 100cm level classes at the latest show.
  • I’m practicing with a lot of kinds of horses. Especially, Retired Racehorse which is Thoroughbred. Also, I always do stable things and grooming. I would love to learn more all about the horses and this amazing sport. I don’t have any experience of dressage and eventing in competitions.

{This is my goal}

・To become a good trainer.

・To take horse trainers license.

・To compete in high level classes.

This is my first time to work in foreign country as an Apprentice / Working Students as a Show Jumping Groom.

In the summer of 2023, from August to September, I went to Italy alone to concentrate on learning effective flatwork and improving the quality of my jumps at Monterosato Country Club. At this Club, almost every day, Mr. Jochen Allard taught me the importance of making good rhythm in flatwork, using pole work to organize, how to approach the jumps and should look, feel, and correct quickly. Also, the most essential things that I learned is “Believing in myself”.

Through this summer’s experience, I was very moved by the fact that I was able to learn a high level of specialized knowledge and advanced techniques for horsemanship that I could not experience in Japan.

I was also attracted to the fact that at a facility which offers professional and advanced training for equestrians, I could learn all amazing aspects of equestrian world from riders and their families who are passionate about this sports. Therefore, through my summer experience, I would love to work as a person who can closely work with professional showjumper. As for my job, what I can currently do is feed the horses, take them in and out of the paddock, do basic grooming, as well as tuck up and take off, and care for the horses after exercise.

I would like to do this kind of work at your stable and gain a lot of experience. The reason I chose the new place rather than that facility in Italy was because I wanted to further develop my values and interest in horses by being in a new place and interacting with people from a new community. Therefore, I don’t need too much salary. All I need is a little living space, flat work, show jumping, and training in advanced grooming techniques.

Key Skills

This is my first time to work in foreign country as an Apprentice / Working Students as a Show Jumping Groom.

What I can currently do is

  • Mucking/ skipping out, bedding down, and sweeping the yard.
  • Feeding, haying, and providing water for equines food.
  • Keeping allocated area tidy such as the feed room, tack room and storage areas.
  • Turning out or bringing in from the field/ caring for equines living out in the field.
  • Tacking up/ off before and after riding.
  • Keep horses clean and relaxing with grooming.
  • Set showjumping obstacle when riders are training horses. Please tell me exact distances between every jumps.

Learning new things enthusiastically about professional show jumping technique/ industry.

Strengths and Weaknesses

What is certain is that I am a person who always works hard and never gives up reaching my goals. Even if a big wall stands in my way, I will continue to do my best to overcome it.

I really like interacting with various people, and I am always polite and friendly to everyone. For this reason, I have always used my teamwork skills to lead classes and events throughout my student life. And I feel great joy when people and animals are happy. I also take great care in responding to work and communications promptly. I work hard at everything and try again and again until I can meet the demands. In addition, I continue to be interested in living in a new environment, in a new community, accepting the values of different people, and learning about new cultures.

Animals do not speak, but they use their eyes, ears, and other parts of their bodies to communicate messages to humans. I never forget the basic attitude of communicating with them with a big heart, and I always try to use the knowledge I currently have to meet their needs to the best of my ability.
