Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

My experience is based predominantly in Polo, Riding school and Livery/ Competition. I also have some experience working in Dressage, wintering young stock and broodmares and  foals. I have my HGV Cat C License and have experience transporting ponies for polo up and down the country.

Starting out at a Riding school that was also a livery and competition yard with around 40 horses. Completing all daily yard duties, assisting with lessons, exercising and schooling of school and livery horses/ponies.

Experience being a head girl and working sole charge in livery environments. Managing the feeding and exercising of clients horses. Assisting with vet, farrier, physio visits.

Co managed a Polo yard for 3 months whilst Employers were oversees. supervising and leading team members. Overseeing the care of 40+ playing ponies for pros and patrons. Organising the day to day running of the yard, care of horses and transport to and from matches and also being a active groom at matches myself.

high level of veterinary care obtained due to the multitude of injury’s that I have dealt with.

very good communication with clients and patrons. very happy working with children. lots of experience working in a family environment with children of all ages.

lots of experience as a sole charge groom for patrons and pros. Looking after the high level sport ponies including a playing stallion. Being in charge of organising my day of general yard duties and also being the HGV driver and transporting the ponies and then grooming at games.

Most recently since having my daughter, I have been caring for a family’s ponies at their home on a part time basis with my daughter in tow. Responsible for the care and welfare of the 3 ponies. Ensuring that everything is up to date, i.e farrier and also monitoring levels of hay, feed, bedding ect and ordering more when necessary.

sole charge, working in a team, transporting horses(HGV license), clipping, all day to day yard duties, bandaging, communicating with clients/patrons, working with children, turning out to a high standard, veterinary care

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

My passion and pure love for animals and specifically horses began from an incredibly young age. I most enjoy the care and welfare side of working with horses as I feel I am a very nurturing individual. I get a great sense of achievement from turning out to a really high standard and taking a highly motivated approach to everything I do. I find working with horses very calming and love being outdoors with these incredible animals.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I would like to improve on widening my experience and working in sectors of the equine industry that I have little to no experience in.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I have always had a very positive and can do attitude towards work and thrive from having a purpose. I’m totally devoted and dedicated to working with horses and its been my love in life from before I can remember. I’m well known by previous employers for being incredibly hard working and reliable. Very comfortable to be left sole charge and love being able to use my own initiative but also equally happy in a team environment. I have a wealth of experience built over the last 15+ years in professional environments that I carry with me from a range of equestrian fields. Im always looking to learn and gain new skills and experience.

Requirements

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

In my next job I am looking to gain a sense of stability. looking for a long term position where I can develop great a great relationship with employer/client. Looking for a job in whichever equestrian environment that it may be in where I can take great pride in my work and demonstrate my exceptionally high standards. Always looking to add to my skill set so would love to gain experience in a field that is new or unfamiliar to me. Love constant new challenges and a very quick learner.
