Experience with Horses

I have been around  horses my whole life. I began riding at 6 and at the age of 12 I started volunteering at my local riding centre. I went to myerscough college and studied level 3 advanced technical extended diploma in equine management and graduated after 2 years with two merits and a distinction (equivalent to 3 A-levels).

During college I did work experience at a livery yard/AI breeding yard (first year) and a Hunt yard (second year). At the hunt yard I would do all general yard jobs, turn out the horses, tack up and groom, hack out and exercise in the arena (both over fences and on the flat) as well as doing jobs with the hounds such as feeding, walking out and riding out. I still volunteer at the hunt yard when I have a day off.

i currently work at a private yard with 4 high level dressage horses. I work alone doing evenings jobs and occasional mornings with the horses ensuring jobs are done quickly and correctly and the horses all get their correct feeds and weighed nets

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I love working with horses because I enjoy being active and I have loved horses since a very young age.

 

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I would love to improve my jumping technique and confidence. I would also love to learn to clip, back/break, and learn how to manage a yard

 

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I am incredibly hard working and hold myself to a very high standard. I love to learn and like to keep busy. I work quickly and efficiently and am good at picking things up quickly and getting on with the job.

• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?

no but i have a week long intensive driving course booked for the first week of june so would need time off to be able to do that
