My experience with horses over the past 17 years ranges from unhandled yearlings to fit racehorses. I have competed with my own horses over the years in a few different disciplines including showing, hunter trials, show jumping and dressage.
Key Skills
I’m am very confident around horses and pride myself in keeping a high standard of work and care towards them. I work well within a team or can take soul charge when needed.
I can turn out to a good standard as I have done for horses running in racess or even my own for the show ring.
I can do most first aid duties (bandaging, poltice applying for example) and like to feel that I pick up on injuries or notice if a horse is unwell fairly quickly.
I have experience in starting young horses and breaking them in and bringing them on in their ridden education.
I’m more than confident travelling horses and can tow or drive a 3.5 to lorry.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• I enjoy working with young or inexperienced horses and seeing their progression into whatever career is best fit for them.
• I have worked in the horse racing industry since I was 14 years old and would love to widen my horse experience now away from the racing.
• I believe I could be a good candidate for most employers with my experience and I am always willing to widen my experience with all horses and ponies.
Requirements
I have no real requirements but accommodation is a bonus and flexible holiday as I do enjoy taking my own horses competing on the odd occasion through the summer.
If there was an option to bring my own horse to a job it would also be a bonus but not essential.
