Experience with Horses

I’m a 17 year old dressage rider based in Slovenia, I trained my own horse up to S level dressage and we compete on Junior level dressage internationally. I have quite some experience from competitions and have worked with many horses, from 3 years old to 20 or more, as well as chill and not so chill horses… From stallions to mares, you name it, I’ve worked with it…

My riding career started on show jumping, where I competed up to 115cm(U14 level in Slovenia), at home the highest I jumped was about 135cm in a parqour, we were placed with my team on the national championships and I was leading in the Slovenia cup until I decided to pursue dressage. I won my 1st dressage national championships, which later led me to some other titles such as the rider of the year, vice champion, team vice champions, team champions,… Currently I’m training in Slovenia as well as in Austria as often as I can and working towards my goal of the European Championships for Juniors.

I always worked in stables during the weekends and holidays/school breaks. Last year I got the best opportunity of a lifetime to go to Austria for two months to train and work with the most amazing and experienced team, so I do have some ‘real’ experience in the equestrian world and working with top level horses. I also trained a few people, starting at summer camps up to riders on competitions.

What I am looking for is a team that is fun to work with, I would love to gather even more experience by riding and taking care of horses.

Key Skills

As stated before, I’m comfortable both in dressage and show jumping(might need a week or two to remember my show jumping skills), as well as working with horses of any age. I love to work with a bit challenging horses at times, as they can give you so many ideas what you could do in trainings also with other horses, they just make it funner. I have experience as a trainer, even though I don’t constantly have riders, I take over a training here or there. I enjoy working with a calm, fun team that we can have fun together with whilst working, even though it is sadly hard to come around in the equestrian world..

I am fluent in Slovene, English and German(about B1, which was more than enough for 2 months in Austria), I can also make it work in other Slavic languages.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

Their different characters, it really is never boring to work with them. The best feeling ever is when you start reading the horse like an open book and everything becomes so clear, when you and the horse work together as one.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

Well I’m 17 so yes, absolutely. I think there is always room for improvement, especially when teamed with a new horse you need to start from the beginning. Currently I’m working on riding with my head up as for the elements I’m just polishing them off, they are all going realtivelly good, but not as good as I would like to see them.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I’m a fun person to work with, I deeply care about the well-being of horses and take great care to develop as healthy muscles on every horse. No matter my age I still have so much experience and really just want to become better with each day. Being better than I was yesterday is my main goal, the results just come as a trophy after me.

Requirements

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

Experience. Either working as a rider or a trainer I want to gather experience in both fields, I want to meet some new acquaintances and mostly have fun during it.

• Do you need accommodation?

Yes.

• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?

One horse if possible.

• Do you have any ongoing commitments?

School, so anytime during the summer.

• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?

Only 3 days in the beginning of July.
