BHS Stage 3 Complete Student, 09/2024 – Current

BHS Stage 2 Lunge & Care qualified.
- Studying BHS Stage 3 Lunge & Care.
- Preparing for BHS Stage 2 Ride and BHS Stage 2 Coach to be taken in early 2025.
- Live in, paying student at The Talland School of Equitation. on an intensive course with the goal of progressing through BHS Stages (Complete) as quickly as possible.
- Working towards BHS Stage 3 Complete. This qualification covers an enhanced level of horse care, lunging, instructing, and riding inclusive of dressage and show jumping.
- Daily duties: 2-3 ridden lessons per day, 1 stable management lecture per day, feeding (hard feed and hay/haylage), mucking out, grooming, turn out/bring in, maintenance and cleanliness of both yards and fields/fences, grooming, horse welfare (checking for injuries and. ailments, lameness, colic, etc), rugging, plaiting, mane pulling and trimming, clipping, bandaging, first aid, tack maintenance, show and exam preparation of horses, arena maintenance and set up for dressage events and showing.
- Additional experience in: transporting horses internationally, transporting horses myself, vet checks, vaccinations and worming scheduling, organising fun lessons and games.
- Particularly enjoy Drill Riding and Working Equitation and ultimately, making riding fun! Have a passion for body work inclusive of massage and aromatherapy, healing work, and connection with horses, particularly as my own horse experiences musculoskeletal issues.
I am an experienced, mature professional with focus and passion for horse stable management and equine care. I am skilled in overseeing daily operations, ensuring optimal horse health and well-being, and maintaining high standards of facility cleanliness and organisation. I am capable of leading teams (and looking after children and other animals!), managing budgets, and implementing innovative solutions to enhance stable efficiency and performance.

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I love teaching and seeing students achieve their goals. I particularly enjoy planning fun lessons and events – gymkhanas for adults?! I have lots of ideas! .
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I’d like to improve my knowledge of holistic horse care methods. I would also love to find a drill ride team somewhere and even coach a team myself.
