Experience with Horses
I have worked with horses for 30 years.
I have experience as a groom, assistant yard manager, rider, sports confidence coach, and working with unbacked in horses, trouble shooting, ground handling, lunging, clipping and working as a private groom.
I have passed various certificates in equine nutrition, equine behaviour, equine psychology, stud handling and join up.
I have my own horses, can drive up to 7.5 tonne lorries, and manage my own land and grazing.
Alongside my equine experience I have a BSc and MSc in psychology which I have used in coaching and within horse/human therapy. Prior to this I worked part time within the NHS as a mental health coach for 20years.
I’d be keen to work as part of a team, both with horses and riders in a role that included a variety of parts and responsibilities as well as travel to events.

Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I understand horses well. I am calm and not highly strung which is well received by horses.
I am very patient and will look for solutions to create willingness in the horse rather than resort to punishment.
I never use violence with horses or any animals in my care.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
Id like to improve my own riding ability ie jump higher fences and feel I can manage to ride trickier horses, without worrying about getting injured (which has become an issue for me as I am the main earner in my household, so cannot afford to be injured).
I’d like more experience as a competition groom and to increase my knowledge working with mares and foals as well as leading horses for sales and vet checks pre competition.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I am very committed, dependable and knowledgeable. I am looking for a career, not a stop gap role, so would be reliable for my employers as well as very versatile across disciplines.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
I’d like to work in a team, that has scope.
I’d like a role where there are opportunities to travel within the UK to high level sporting events.
I’d like to forge close bonds with the horses I look after as well as the team I am part of and to feel that I am part of something exciting.
• Do you need accommodation?
No, unless travelling away with the horses/ employer.
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
I would like to be able to bring my own dog if possible.
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
I have children so cannot do emergency cover, due to childcare requirements.
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
No, but I do compete some Saturday/Sundays.
