During my time working as a freelance groom, (2019) I was given the opportunity to work with many different disciplines including dressage, endurance, hunt, show jumping, cross country, race and livery yards. The diversity of the work that was associated with being a freelance groom was enjoyable and I was equally as pleased working on the hunt yard and the small family yard.
I feel adept at working on my own as I enjoy completing jobs to the best of my ability whilst prioritising important tasks. I have turned out horses for hunting, racing and endurance to high standards. As part of my learning process, I was taught to clip to a professional level.
One of my primary duties on the yards was riding which I took great pleasure in and in turn gave me the opportunity to enhance my riding skills.
I have admin/housekeeping experience and I am happy carrying these tasks out when necessary.
My key skills are working alone, working as part of a team, plaiting, clipping, pulling, turning out, getting horses up to race/hunt fitness, keeping a tidy yard, admin, house keeping.
I believe that looking after horses is extremely rewarding and satisfying to the point that at times, the role resembles more of a lifestyle than a job. I feel fulfilled carrying out all aspects and duties of caring for horses.
My main objective when I return to a yard would be to enhance my overall skillset. I believe there is always room to improve or master known skills and I consider myself a keen and quick learner.
I would bring top quality care to any yard because I dedicate myself to all the animals and tailor the care I provide depending on their needs. My friends and family would describe me as a kind and considerate person and this is reflected in the care I provide for animals.
I want to return to working on a yard and caring for horses like I used to as I regard it as the most satisfying and happiest time of my career.
