- Experience with Horses
- Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
- I have experience working with horses in both stable and ridden environments, including daily care, handling, and general yard duties. My experience includes tasks such as grooming, tacking up, turning horses in and out of the stable, mucking out, feeding, and basic health checks. I am confident handling horses of different temperaments, including young and more sensitive horses, and I always prioritise calm, safe, and respectful handling.
I also have experience with ridden work, including flatwork and hacking out, and I am comfortable working both independently and as part of a team in a yard setting.
- Key Skills
- What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
- Confident handling and general care of horses
- Working independently and taking responsibility for tasks
- Reliable yard work (mucking out, feeding, turnout, tidying stables)
- Calm and patient approach with horses
- Good awareness of horse behaviour and safety
- Ability to work well in a team when needed
- Basic ridden work and hacking experience
- Strengths and Weaknesses
- • What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
- I enjoy building trust with horses and being part of their daily care and development. I also enjoy the routine and responsibility of yard work, and I find it rewarding to see horses improve in their behaviour, health, and performance.
- • Is there anything you’d like to improve?
- I would like to continue improving my riding skills and gain more experience with more advanced training techniques and different types of horses. I also want to become even more confident in handling challenging situations independently.
- • Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
- I am reliable, hardworking, and genuinely passionate about horses. I take responsibility seriously and always prioritise the horse’s welfare and safety. I am willing to learn, adapt quickly, and put in consistent effort, whether working alone or as part of a team.
