Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I became freelance nearly 2 years ago after leaving my Barn Manger position for a large competition business. Throughout my life I have gained a lot of experience in a whole multitude of disciplines, horses and people. I have always been a grafter which has blessed me with the life skills of multiple industries whether that be administration, sales, hospitality, retail and of course animal care. Working independently has seen great success as I have been able to harness all these previous skills to connect with clients, all the administrative tasks involved and touch upon other skills which involve photography/videography for social medias. I have enjoyed the diversity of changes and whereby no two days are the same- One day I could flying out to Spain to drive horses home from tour, the next house sitting for clients and the next clipping 5 horses for their regional championships.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I am good at working in a team although I enjoy working independently as I can mange my own time and instructions provided. I enjoy being given a task and coordinating the logistics behind completing the task. I am also very good at problem solving and thinking practically in emergency situations which is a dependable skill working with horses.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
The variety and the kindest horses show within their work
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
Advertising myself via social media and being able to network to a large clientele base
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
Professional and reliable. Not one to stand still and will always keep myself busy if left unattended.
