Experience with Horses
I have worked with horses for many years, after developing a foundation of knowledge through having my own yard of horses at home. I have worked as a groom and rider at many yards as well as this I have ridden out for a racehorse trainer, groomed at top events and been responsible with sole charge of yards. I have a lot of experience with youngsters, and backing/breaking, I have also worked at a busy competition and livery yard as part of a team. I have worked in several ridden positions; I am happy to ride big excitable/young competition horses. As well as riding I can efficiently muck out and maintain a yard to a very high standard, I have plenty of experience looking after a full yard of horses. I have experience managing a small team to ensure the smooth running of a yard full of horses.
As well as this experience working within the equestrian industry, I have an Undergraduate Degree in Equine Business Management and a Post Graduate Degree in Equine Science which has further established a more in-depth knowledge of equine nutrition, exercise, therapy, rehabilitation and the day to day running of a business. I have also achieved my BHS stage 3 in complete horsemanship and stage 2 in coach. I have my BHS equine first aid qualification. I can confidently drive a 3.5T and I have my HGV and trailers license.
I am available for any freelance work within the equine industry.
