I have grown up being around horses from a young age. I have also completed voluntary work at a ranch where part of my work was to care for the rescued horses, this included feeding, mucking out, cleaning the fields, grooming the ponies and horses and health checking.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I can groom horses to a high level and can do basic level plaiting. I can also turn horses in and out and am also very happy to learn new skills and experiences and put my hand to anything.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
What I enjoy most about working with horses is building trust and earning their confidence. I love that working with horses can challenge me to be better. As they are so intelligent they teach me empathy, patience and consistency which helps me grow as a person whilst also helping them to thrive.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
In general I would like to improve a little on everything which involves working with horses. I feel you can never know enough, and learning is only going to better my experiences.
