Future Requirements

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

I’d like to continue developing my career within the equine industry while gaining more hands-on experience and responsibility. I’m particularly interested in opportunities to expand my knowledge through tuition and mentoring, whether that’s ridden work, stud work, teaching, or  yard management experience. I’m looking for a role where I can continue learning, develop my skills further, and progress within the position over time while contributing positively to the team and maintaining high standards of horse care and welfare.

• Do you need accommodation?

If a role was close to home, No. However, if it was further afield I may require accommodation.

• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?

If I was living on site – I would like to bring my horse with me (even if this was after a settling in period)

• Do you have any ongoing commitments?

No, I am currently freelancing so I am available whenever.

• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?

No.

Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

I have several years of hands-on experience working within the equine industry across showjumping, Assisted DIY, Part and full livery yards. My experience includes managing horses’ daily care routines, handling a wide range of temperaments including youngstock, broodmares, and stallions, and maintaining high standards of welfare in fast-paced yard environments. I have experience backing and producing young horses, supporting rehabilitation programmes, preparing horses for competitions, and assisting with vet and specialist visits.

Alongside my professional experience, I also own three horses of my own, including my main ridden horse (Olive) and two youngsters, which  I am producing alongside my mum. This has further strengthened my knowledge of horse management, training routines, consistency, and long-term care. Working on busy yards and managing my own horses has developed my reliability, strong work ethic, ability to work under pressure, and confidence handling horses safely and independently.

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

  • Time management and working to strict routines
  • Working effectively under pressure
  • Reliability and punctuality

  • Client and owner communication
  • Coordinating with vets, farriers, and other professionals
  • Monitoring health and behavioural changes
  • Record keeping and care planning
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation
  • Confidence handling difficult situations/horses calmly
  • Trustworthiness and responsibility
  • Backed and produced young horses.
  • Worked confidently with youngstock, competition and sharp horses.
  • Produced young horses through groundwork and ridden work.
  • Managed and trained youngstock in busy yard environments.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I enjoy working with horses because every day is different and rewarding. I particularly enjoy building trust and relationships with different horses, especially young or challenging ones, and seeing their progress over time. I like the routine, responsibility, and hands-on nature of the work, as well as being in fast-paced environments where teamwork and high standards are important. I also enjoy the challenge and problem-solving side of horse care and management, whether that’s adapting routines, supporting rehabilitation, or helping horses develop and perform at their best.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

My plaiting, I am used to the showjumper cuts and prefer to keep my own personal horses with the same, so it isn’t a skill I really got a chance to learn.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I combine hands-on equine experience with strong organisation, reliability, and a professional work ethic. I’ve worked in busy yard environments with a wide range of horses, including youngstock, competition horses, broodmares, and rehabilitation cases, so I’m confident handling responsibility and adapting to different situations.

I’m hardworking, calm under pressure, and willing to go above and beyond to ensure horses are cared for to a high standard. Alongside my yard experience, I also manage three horses of my own, including two youngsters, which shows my commitment, consistency, and genuine passion for the industry. I’m reliable, quick to learn, and able to work well both independently and as part of a team.
