Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I have worked in competitive yards and stud farms over the past 3 years. I also worked at a lesson barn where I taught lessons and helped manage the entire barn, including feeding, medication, mucking out, and turning out. Additionally, I have been riding for 11 years, competing up to 1.05m and schooling up to 1.20m. Last year, I completed an internship riding and working with young horses: I instilled the groundwork in 2-year-olds in preparation for their breaking-in, and then rode the recently broken-in 3- and 4-year-olds. I also have a lot of experience exercising horses. I am hardworking, confident with sensitive horses, and comfortable with all yard duties.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I am very good at handling and riding sensitive and young horses. I am confident working both in teams and independently, and I communicate clearly with others. Additionally, I am capable of performing all normal yard duties and am a good teacher.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I love training them and being around them as they learn very fast. I also love spending time with them and getting to know their individual personalities.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
My main goal is to improve my riding and showjumping. I also want to improve my horsemanship skills and learn a lot in general about all aspects of training, particularly young horse training.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I am extremely hardworking and am dedicated to keeping horses’ welfare as my top priority.
