Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I am an experienced and dedicated equestrian professional completing my HND in Animal scienece and management. Alongside my education I currently work at Shannaghmore Horse Farm, where I have gained hands-on experience within a busy breeding and competition environment. Alongside this, I run my own equine service business, providing paid riding, schooling, and temporary yard management cover, which has given me responsibility for the full day-to-day running of yards and maintaining high standards of horse care and organisation.
I am confident working with a wide range of horses, from youngstock through to fit competition horses, and take pride in producing horses to a high level of turnout and care. I am also a capable rider, competing to 1.10m Eventing and 1.20m Showjumping, and I am keen to continue developing my riding alongside my yard management experience.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I most enjoy the process of developing and improving horses, particularly seeing younger or less experienced horses gain confidence and progress through training. I take real satisfaction in maintaining high standards of horse care, turnout, and daily management, and I enjoy being part of a team working towards competition goals. I also value the routine and responsibility of yard life, ensuring each horse is looked after to the highest standard.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
One area I would like to develop further is gaining my HGV licence, as I recognise the importance of being able to independently transport horses, particularly in a competition or professional yard environment.
Alongside this, I am always looking to continue progressing my riding and yard management experience, particularly at higher competition levels, and I am keen to keep learning from more experienced professionals.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I believe I stand out because I offer a strong combination of hands-on experience, reliability, and a genuine work ethic. I have experience across breeding, competition yards, and running my own equine business, which has given me a high level of responsibility and confidence in managing horses and yard operations.
I am adaptable, hardworking, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. I take pride in maintaining high standards and am always willing to go the extra mile. Combined with my riding ability, breeding knowledge, and international experience, I bring a well-rounded skill set along with a positive attitude and a strong willingness to learn and develop.
