Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
Previously volunteered as a groom at two riding school yards. Carried out usual duties of turn in/out, mucking out, filling hay nets, grooming, tacking up, poo picking, field maintenance, and leading during lessons. Ridden horses since 9 years old with a brief 4/5 year break due to education commitments. Ridden ability would be intermediate and can jump up to 70/80cm. Never competed so most of riding ability is schooling/jumping.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I enjoy working with horses because every day is different and it’s special to build trust and partnership with them. They are sensitive and intelligent, and I find it rewarding to build confidence with them through calm, consistent handling. I also enjoy the physical side of the work and being outdoors, and I take pride in keeping high standards of care, whether that’s grooming, feeding, mucking out, or making sure the horses are comfortable and healthy. I enjoy seeing horses progress and knowing I’ve contributed to their wellbeing and routine.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
Learning more skills that I didn’t get a chance to previously as a volunteer; clipping, plaiting, show prep, handling stallions, foals and livestock, and perhaps further developing my ridden abilities to handle horses of different temperaments.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
Employers should consider me because I’m hardworking, reliable, and willing to learn. I take pride in doing jobs properly, work well as part of a team, kind, and energetic. I’m also genuinely passionate about working with horses, so I bring enthusiasm as well as a strong work ethic. I understand that caring for horses requires patience, consistency, and attention to detail, and I’m committed to maintaining high standards and being someone the team can depend on.
