Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I’m from Canada and will be moving to England in September on a UK Youth Mobility Visa. I am currently looking for work opportunities within the equestrian industry.
For the past 4 years, I have worked for international event riders Lindsay and Xavier Trainsel as a barn manager and groom. During this time, I have gained experience managing a busy professional yard with 5* horses, client and boarder horses, as well as young horses and babies. I also have some previous experience working with foals and young stallions.
My experience includes grooming at FEI competitions, clipping, pulling manes, braiding/plaiting, tacking up and untacking, lunging, turnout for jogs, feeding, and all general barn duties. I am comfortable handling fit competition horses and maintaining high standards of care and presentation.
I also have experience operating farm machinery and hauling trailers, including tractors, telehandlers, skid steers, and dump trailers.
In addition to grooming and barn management, I ride as well and previously competed my OTTB up to Novice level before selling him. I currently lesson twice a week, and ride client horses! In my current role, I help manage weekend staff, assist with day-to-day barn operations, and support basic veterinary care when needed.

Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I enjoy helping horses feel and perform their best while also contributing to a positive environment for clients and the team. Seeing horses happy, healthy, and progressing in their work is very rewarding to me.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I would like to continue improving my work-life balance while also developing my skills and experience further within the industry.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
