Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I have been around horses since I was very young and got my first pony when I was 11. Since then I have enjoyed Pony Club, Dressage, Showjumping and Show Hunter and Eventing. I currently have 2 horses of my own, a 19 year old thoroughbred gelding and a 14 year old warmblood gelding. I enjoy a variety of disciplines but my passion lies in eventing. I have competed to 95cm and hope to reach 1/2* one day. As well as eventing, I enjoy show jumping and show hunter as it gives me and my horses the accuracy and precision needed for eventing. I love my horses and just enjoy being around them and everything which comes with their maintenance. I love helping my friends at competitions and being more of a behind the scenes person feels incredibly rewarding. I enjoy learning more about turnout as it shows respect to judges and to your competitors and would love to further my skills in a competition yard.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I have experience working effectively and efficiently both as a member of a team and individually, however I enjoy being surrounded by people! I am confident with upkeep of stables eg Mucking Out, Feeding, Watering, Tacking Up and Untacking, Washing Off etc
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I enjoy how rewarding it is, when something clicks after weeks or months of training there is no feeling quite like it!
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
Id love to improve my turnout skills. It is such an important part of competing as well as daily upkeep and a high level of turnout always looks fabulous as well as shows respect to the judges.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I am dedicated and hardworking and will give absolutely anything a try. I might not have as much experience as other candidates but I am a quick learner and put my all into everything I do, big or small. I a willing to put 100% into my role and am excited to see where it can take me.
