Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

I have been riding horses since I was 10 years old and helped out at the riding school at the weekends, I then got offered a paid job 2 years ago to start teaching a few lessons and doing yard work and I have worked here ever since. I was at college for 2 years at SRUC doing horse care and I achieved my Advanced Certificate. I completed 2 weeks of placement at a stud yard for my college course, I was working with young horses and yearlings. I recently got back from working on a ranch in Canada for a month, where I learnt how to ride western and how to complete general ranch work as well as learning about the different breeds of horses and how to handle them.

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

I am happy working alone and in a team, I am confident in my plaiting abilities and can handle different types of horses (although I haven’t had much experience with stallions).

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I enjoy being outside and having hands-on work.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I believe there is always room to improve my riding abilities. I would also like to improve my clipping and just overall learn more about horses.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I am a hard worker who always has the horses best interests in mind. I am very passionate when working with horses and I am just looking for the right place for me!
