Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I have been riding horses for most of my life and have previous competition experience, which has allowed me to develop a solid riding foundation as well as a good understanding of horse behavior and management.
In addition to riding, I have hands-on experience caring for horses on a daily basis. Last summer, I was responsible for riding and working with a young mare while her owner was away. During that time, I helped improve her rideability, consistency, and overall behavior, while also developing my own skills working with younger horses.
I have also regularly assisted at my riding school’s summer camps, helping with younger children and supporting daily stable routines. This included basic horse care tasks, supervision, and ensuring both horses and riders were safe and comfortable.
Overall, I am very comfortable around horses, hardworking, and used to being in a stable environment. I am eager to continue learning and gaining more experience in a professional setting.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I am particularly strong working both independently and as part of a team. I am responsible, organized and I pay close attention to detail, especially when it comes to horse care and stable routines.
I am confident handling and riding horses, including younger horses, and I am calm and patient, which helps me build trust with them. I am used to daily stable tasks such as grooming, mucking out, feeding and general care.
I also adapt quickly to new environments and I am always willing to learn. I have good communication skills and I am comfortable helping others, including younger riders, which I developed while assisting at riding camps.
Overall, I would say my strengths are my work ethic, my consistency, and my natural ease around horses.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
What I enjoy the most about working with horses is the connection you build with them over time. I find it very rewarding to see their progress, especially when working with younger or less experienced horses, and to know that your consistency and care make a difference. I also really enjoy the daily routine of stable life and being around horses, as it keeps me focused and motivated.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I am always looking to improve my riding, especially when it comes to working with young horses and developing them correctly. I would also like to gain more experience in a professional stable environment, learn more advanced techniques, and improve my efficiency in daily stable management.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
Employers should consider me because I am hardworking, reliable and genuinely motivated to learn. I have a strong foundation with horses, but more importantly, I have the right attitude: I am consistent, responsible and I take pride in doing things properly. I adapt quickly, I am easy to work with, and I am fully committed to giving my best in any role I take on.
