I take pride in maintaining high welfare standards and would welcome opportunities to contribute to the success of the yard and horses in my care.

Do you need accommodation?

No accommodation required.

Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?

No.

Do you have any ongoing commitments?

I am currently employed by South Central Ambulance Service but am seeking a career change into a role focused on horses and equine care.

Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?

No holidays currently booked. Any future commitments can be discussed at interview.

Experience with Horses

I have several years of practical experience working with horses in both professional and private yard environments. Between 2017 and 2020 I worked as a Groom for JLP Dressage, where I was responsible for the daily care and welfare of up to 15 competition horses. My duties included mucking out, grooming, feeding, tack cleaning, turnout, bringing in, exercising where required and ensuring horses were presented to a high standard.

Prior to this, I worked at Glen Farm Livery assisting with the care and management of approximately 25 horses, carrying out all routine yard duties and supporting the smooth running of the yard.

I also worked at Moorgreen Farm undertaking horse care and stable management duties. Outside of employment, horses have remained a significant part of my life and I actively compete in show jumping and continue to ride regularly.

My experience has given me a strong understanding of horse welfare, stable management, yard organisation and working safely around a variety of horses.

Key Skills

  • Excellent horse care and welfare knowledge
  • Mucking out, grooming, feeding and turnout
  • Stable management and yard maintenance
  • Handling a wide variety of horses confidently and safely
  • Working independently and as part of a team
  • Calm and reliable under pressure
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • High attention to detail and welfare standards
  • Physically fit and accustomed to working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Experience mentoring and supporting colleagues
  • Full driving licence including C1 entitlement
  • Strong understanding of health and safety procedures

Strengths and Weaknesses

What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I enjoy building relationships with horses and ensuring they receive the best possible care. I find working outdoors rewarding and enjoy being part of a team that contributes to the wellbeing, development and success of the horses. No two days are the same, and I particularly enjoy the variety and responsibility that comes with caring for horses.

Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I am always keen to learn and develop new skills. I would like to continue expanding my knowledge in specialist areas of horse management and gain further experience within a professional competition or training environment.

Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I bring a strong work ethic, reliability and a calm, professional approach developed through my career in the emergency services. Working as a 999 Emergency Call Taker has taught me to remain composed under pressure, communicate effectively and make sound decisions in demanding situations. Combined with my practical horse care experience, genuine passion for horses and commitment to high standards, I would be a dependable and hardworking member of any team. I am physically fit, adaptable and willing to go the extra mile to ensure the welfare of the horses and the smooth running of the yard.
