Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
Equine Studies at college, worked at a livery/eventing/hunting yard, studied at The Irish National Stud where I stayed as a Yard Foreman and did sales work. I revised my skills more recently with an Equine Breeding Course (Green Cert), and currently work at a full livery yard with 30+ horses. I have admin experience – receptionist, administrator at a training company, and Accounts Administrator in a Equine Veterinary Practice.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I enjoy working with foals, and love the fulfilment of working with young horses, having produced all our ponies from youngsters to go on to successfully compete. I love turning out for competition.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I enjoy all aspects, I don’t mind the bad weather or hard work, but I love how rewarding it is.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I would like to do more BHS exams, and would like to compete a bit more in the future.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
As I am a bit older I have experienced different aspects of the equine industry, along with personal growth from life experience, enabling me to be to be confident within myself and my work.
