Future Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
I am looking for a long-term, hands-on equine role where I can use my riding, grooming and yard-management experience while continuing to develop my skills with quality horses. I particularly enjoy exercise riding, young horses and varied yard work.
• Do you need accommodation?
I may require accommodation depending on the location.
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
I have a male French Bulldog, so I would require dog-friendly accommodation if accommodation is provided.
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
None that would prevent me from fully committing to the role.
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
I usually take holidays in April/March, mid December to new years and August as that’s what the military had us take but I’m flexible.
Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I have extensive professional equine experience through seven years with the Household Cavalry, progressing to Military Riding Instructor in 2024. I have worked with strong, fit and sometimes difficult horses over 16hh, managed yards of up to 43 horses and helped train horses for military work. I also have experience with young Shires/Drum Horses, hunting with the Belvoir Hunt, competition horses, coaching riders and working at the Royal Mews.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
- Riding and exercising fit/strong horses
- Handling and training young horses
- Clipping, trimming and pulling
- Lunging, long-reining, Pessoa and groundwork
- Bandaging and routine medical care
- High standards of grooming, turnout and tack care
- Yard management and sole responsibility
- Coaching riders of different ages and abilities
- Calm, reliable and confident working alone or within a team
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I particularly enjoy building a relationship with horses, improving their confidence and seeing their training progress. I also enjoy busy yards where high standards are expected.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I would like to improve my plaiting further and gain experience/qualification driving a 3.5-tonne horsebox.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I am hardworking, disciplined, reliable and accustomed to exceptionally high standards. I have experience with a wide range of horses and am confident taking responsibility, working independently and remaining calm around challenging horses.
