Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
I have had horses all my life but have been consistently working with them for 2 years I’ve worked my way up to yard manager so I’m responsible for the yard, ordering feed, vet visits, farrier etc. I have taught lessons for all ages and ability’s for the past 2 years and have absolutely loved watching each person grow their riding skills. I have been in pony club since the age of 7 and have progressed up to my C+ ridden and all of the relevant tests.
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
I am able to work well in a team or by myself. I have spent 2 years teaching children with additional needs and all ages and abilities. I’ve backed and broken 2 horses at work but would love to expand my knowledge in that area.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I love that every day is different and each horse has their one personality. I really enjoy learning more about horses and feel like you can never know everything, there is always room for improvement. I love pushing myself to become a better person and I think horses are amazing at bringing out the best in someone.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I would love to improve on my knowledge and experience in the equine industry. I would love to compete more and become more confident in that area. I would also like to expand my knowledge of the backing and breaking process of horses
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I think I have a good understanding of horses and the equine industry. I’m willing to put the work in and make sure that everything is done at a high standard. I love learning more about horses and improving my knowledge and skills in the industry.
