Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

I have a strong range of experience working with horses, including eventing and show jumping yards, riding schools and stud yards. I’m experienced in day-to-day horse care, mucking out, grooming, tacking up, turning out, bringing in, exercising and preparing horses for competitions. I also have experience riding and working with different types of horses, as well as supporting disabled riders. I’m confident with general yard duties, hardworking and adaptable, and I’m happy to take on any aspect of horse and yard care.

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

I’m particularly good at working with horses calmly and confidently and adapting to each horse’s individual needs. I’m reliable and hardworking, comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, and I’m confident with general yard duties, grooming, plaiting, turning out and getting horses ready for work or shows. I’m also good at building a bond with horses and have experience riding and handling a variety of horses in different environments.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

What I enjoy most about working with horses is the bond you build with them and getting to know each horse as an individual. I love the day-to-day care, seeing horses improve and develop, and being part of their training and preparation. I also really enjoy the busy yard environment and the satisfaction of knowing you’ve done a good job and the horses are happy, healthy and well cared for.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I’d like to continue improving my riding skills and build my confidence, particularly when riding different types of horses and in new situations. I’d also like to develop my knowledge and skills further within the equine industry, learn from more experienced people and take on new challenges and responsibilities.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I believe employers should consider me because I’m hardworking, reliable and genuinely passionate about horses. I have experience across eventing, show jumping, riding schools and stud yards, with strong skills in daily horse care, grooming, mucking out, turning out, bringing in, tacking up and preparing horses for work and shows. I’m confident handling different horses and understanding their individual needs, and I take pride in keeping horses happy, healthy and well cared for. I’m also keen to keep improving my riding and develop my skills further within the industry.
