Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

I have worked on different yards before, ranging from riding schools, to livery yards, and then my last job was working on a show jumping yard. My duties included: mucking out, turning out and bringing in, tack cleaning, grooming, riding (hacking, school work, occasional jumping), tacking up, show preparation, bathing, plaiting, clipping, poo picking, clearing ragwort, holding the horses for the vet, dentist, and farrier.

My parents also owned 5 horses from when I was about 8 years old and every day I would go to the field that they rented and where we kept the horses and I kept the field maintained properly, as well as the horses. Grooming them and riding them every day to keep them fit and healthy.

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

I am particularly good at riding, time management skills, working as a team and on my own, plaiting, show preparation, grooming, handling large and fit horses.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I really just enjoy being around horses all of the time. Growing up with them, it is the only thing I have ever wanted to do. They are amazing animals in my eyes and amazing to be around.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I would like to improve my riding to a more advanced level

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I think employers should consider me because I am totally flexible and can work any days, anytime. I can also commute to the location of the stables if there is accommodation included straight away as I am not working at the moment.

I also have the upmost respect for horse owner’s, and horses themselves, if I am going to be looking after someone else’s horse, I will treat them with the same respect that I would treat my own.
