I am looking to return to a full-time career within the horse industry, ideally in a dressage-focused rider, groom and/or yard management position. I would like to work within a professional environment where I can continue developing my riding and training, while bringing my experience in horse care, management, grooming and competition preparation to the yard.

I am particularly keen to work with quality dressage horses, including young and developing horses, and would be interested in opportunities to ride, produce and compete horses where appropriate. I would also like to continue competing my own horse alongside my employment if possible.

Do you need accommodation?

Yes. I am specifically looking for a full-time live-in position. Ideally, accommodation would be on-site or very close to the yard.

Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?

I would ideally like to bring my own horse with me. I appreciate that accommodation for an additional horse can be difficult, so I am also open to finding a suitable local arrangement if bringing my horse directly to the yard is not possible.

My horse would be kept to a high standard and I am fully responsible for their day-to-day care and management.

Do you have any ongoing commitments?

I currently have some freelance dressage coaching commitments, which I would look to manage around a full-time position. I am flexible and would be happy to discuss these commitments with a prospective employer.

Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?

I have no significant holidays currently booked that would affect my availability. Any existing commitments can be discussed with an employer in advance.

Experience with Horses

I have been around horses since I was four and have approximately 16 years of experience within the horse industry, including around 11 years of professional experience.

My main discipline is dressage, with experience training and competing horses from the basics through to Advanced Medium level. I have experience backing and producing young horses, schooling and retraining horses, competition preparation, test riding and developing horses according to the scales of training.

I spent almost two years at Talland School of Equitation, gaining my BHSAI/BHS Accredited Coach qualification and progressing through the BHS Stage system, alongside gaining experience in yard management.

I have worked alongside and for professional riders, including Olympic-level riders, and have experience as an international groom, travelling to competitions in Belgium and the Netherlands. I have also worked on a private dressage yard managing approximately eight horses alongside three liveries, maintaining high standards of horse care, yard organisation and daily management.

Alongside my employment, I have developed my own freelance dressage coaching business, working with a range of horses and riders from grassroots through to Advanced Medium level. This includes private lessons, test riding, schooling, young horse development and competition preparation.

I am particularly interested in correct training, developing the horse’s foundations and working through the scales of training to produce a confident, supple and rideable horse.

What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I particularly enjoy developing a horse and seeing its progress over time. I find the training process extremely rewarding, from establishing correct basics with a young or inexperienced horse through to producing more advanced work and seeing the horse become stronger, more confident and more established.

I also enjoy the variety that comes with working on a professional yard — riding, grooming, competition preparation, horse care and helping to maintain a well-run yard.

Is there anything you’d like to improve?

After spending several years away from working professionally with horses, I am keen to continue rebuilding my experience within a professional yard environment and further develop my riding and training at a higher level. I am very open to learning from experienced professionals and taking on feedback. My aim is to continually improve rather than become complacent with my existing experience.

Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I bring a combination of professional dressage experience, practical yard management, coaching and competition experience. I have worked with horses at a high level, including alongside Olympic riders, and have experience travelling internationally, producing young horses and training horses through to Advanced Medium.

I am hardworking, reliable and take pride in maintaining high standards of horse care and presentation. I am equally comfortable working independently and as part of a team, and I understand the responsibility involved in looking after horses to a professional standard.

Most importantly, horses are genuinely my passion. Having spent several years away from the industry, I have made the decision to return because I want horses to be my career again. I am looking for a long-term position where I can commit myself fully, continue learning and contribute positively to a professional yard.
