Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

In New Zealand I ran my own business that offered

starting, schooling and lessons at my home base in Springston, Canterbury and often followed up by taking these

ponies/horses and eventers out and about competing for clients. I also travelled to clients weekly to school horses at

their own home as well as coaching.

I’ve spent a lot of time teaching at Kowhai Residential Riding School, this involves organizing a group of six – ten

riders managing catching, grooming, tacking up instructing dressage, show jumping and cross country as well going

out hacking, feeding, trimming, clipping and general problem solving. I am reliable, hardworking, ambitious and love the opportunity to learn.

RIDING EXPERIENCE

Most recently I was a working pupil at Sarah Ennis yard where I competed

110 SJ, schooled XC and rode gallops as well as generally hacking and

fitness riding.

I have ridden all my life, and hold both my A and H certificate.

I have backed started and schooled numerous ponies/horses and have

self-produced all of my rides. My last horse in NZ is a homebred I started

and produced to Level 4 dressage, Supreme champions in showing and

low level jumping. I have successfully started and produced my own

ponies to Level 4/ FEI Pony and ESNZ 1*. I have schooled and ridden and

competed horses for clients in 105 Eventing and Level 5 dressage as well

as numerous ponies in dressage, jumping and showing. .

Very proud to have been one of four riders selected to represent

New Zealand at 2025 PCIA Inter-Pacific Exchange in Australia on

OTTB, our NZ team won, and I placed individually in the 6 bar

challenge.

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

I am particularly good at going with the flow and being able to get jobs done to a high standard. I thrive in an environment where the opportunity to ride and improve is available.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I absolutely love riding and improving skills, learning about different management styles.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

Riding, I would also enjoy the opportunity to start dealing with owners.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

The determination and grit that I have to work tirelessly with the experience I’ve had competing at home paired with the grooming experience I’ve had at the two 5* yards is a real highlight for ahy employer.
