Future Requirements

• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?

I would like to gain knowledgeable experience in horses, this would include: training, rehabilitation, riding/ non-ridden exercises with a range of horses, learning certain quirks or preferences a horse may have. I’d prefer to have more riding experience with my Job role if I do get it.

• Do you need accommodation?

Accommodation would be desirable but it would depend on travelling distance, to and from the yard.

• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?

I have no special requirements.

• Do you have any ongoing commitments?

I’m currently studying for my A-Levels in Year 13 (final year), I am expected to finish next year around June/July time as I would only have half a year left. I do help every Saturday possible down at a small riding school but we can arrange different days if needed.

• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?

I currently have no holidays booked.

Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

I volunteer at Animal Pantry in Astwood Bank every Saturday, and I get more opportunities to help out during half-term holidays. I have experience with general yard duties, including mucking out, feeding and watering horses, grooming, turning horses out, tacking up and untacking, and cleaning tack and stables. I am also confident riding independently and enjoy riding and exercising horses. I am hardworking, willing to learn and happy to get stuck into different jobs around the yard. I would love to gain more experience with horses and continue developing my skills in both horse care and riding.

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

I am good at general yard duties and caring for horses, including mucking out, feeding, grooming and turning out. I am confident riding independently and enjoy exercising horses. I have also started learning about desensitising a young horse and am keen to develop my skills further. I am happy working alone or as part of a team, and I am hardworking, reliable and willing to learn. I always try my best and am happy to help with different jobs around the yard.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I most enjoy caring for horses, I think that riding is a given opportunity if it is earned but I would equally love riding as much as caring for horses. I like to take my time slow to introduce myself to the horse I’d be working with because I believe it’s important for the horse to trust and bond with a human than just being put straight to work.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I would like to improve my knowledge on horses: colours, patterns, breeds, sex (gender), height and weight but also my riding ability is something I really want to improve on.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

Because I believe in making a bond with a horse I’m working with, through a mix of ridden/ non-ridden exercises before actually riding in a lesson or out on a hack. It’s not all about riding all the time, you have to earn the riding by doing the yard jobs that are asked, working as a team or by being trusted to work on your own.
