Future Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
I’m looking for an opportunity to make a genuine difference, learn new things and spend meaningful time around horses. I’d love to immerse myself in their world, develop my understanding of their care and behaviour, and contribute wherever I can be useful. Having my family alongside me is important, as we love learning and experiencing new things together. I’m also writing my next book, and I’m drawn to experiences that open my mind, introduce me to different ways of life and inspire new stories. Ultimately, I’d love to find somewhere I can give something meaningful, learn something valuable and be part of something that matters.
• Do you need accommodation?
Yes, ideally accommodation suitable for two adults, two children and our dog. We’re flexible and happy to discuss what might be possible.
• Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you?
No special requirements, he is a very well behaved dog, doesn’t go on furniture or upstairs.
• Do you have any ongoing commitments?
No.
• Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of?
No.
Experience with Horses
Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.
“After spending a large part of my adult life disabled and believing horse riding was something I’d never be able to do again, I’ve since regained my health through my own research and mind-body healing journey. Now, I desire to return to something I absolutely loved as a child — riding horses.
Riding was one of my favourite things growing up, and I’ve always felt a connection to horses. I also have practical experience caring for multiple horses during extended pet and house sits, including feeding, stabling and mucking out.
I’d love the opportunity to build on that experience, deepen my understanding of horses and their individual needs, and get stuck into daily life around them. I’m looking for somewhere I can make a genuine difference, learn new skills and contribute to the wellbeing of the horses in my care.
I’m also writing my next book while travelling and exploring with my family, and I’m drawn to meaningful experiences that open up new worlds, challenge expectations and inspire new stories. Being able to reconnect with horses, regain my confidence in the saddle and share that journey with my family would be incredibly special.”
Key Skills
What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc
“I’m practical, adaptable and happy to get stuck into whatever is required to be done. Through pet and house sitting, I’ve gained experience caring for multiple horses over extended periods, including feeding, stabling, mucking out and administering oral medication according to individual horses’ health requirements.
I’m comfortable working independently, taking responsibility and maintaining daily routines. I’m patient, observant and genuinely care about animal welfare. I understand that every horse has individual needs, and I’m happy to learn, follow instructions carefully and ask questions when required.
I’m looking to build on my existing experience, develop my knowledge of horses and their care, and become more confident around them. I’d love to contribute to a positive environment where I can be useful, learn from others and make a genuine difference.”
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
“It’s difficult to put into words what being around horses does for me. There is something about their presence, their power and their nature that I find incredible. The more time I spend with them, the more relaxed I feel, and the more I learn about them, the more I desire to know.
Riding was one of my greatest joys as a child, and after spending a large part of my adult life disabled, I never imagined I would have the opportunity to return to it. Having regained my health, I now feel able to take the next step towards something that brings me so much happiness.
For me, this is about following a genuine joy that has always been there and giving myself the opportunity to discover where it might lead.”
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
“I’d love to deepen my understanding of horses, their behaviour and their individual needs, and continue developing my practical skills. I’d also love to rebuild my confidence in the saddle and return to riding, something that brought me so much joy as a child. The more time I spend around horses and the more I learn about them, the more curious I become. I’m excited to keep learning, gaining experience and discovering just how far I can take this.”
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
“I bring genuine care, enthusiasm and a willingness to get stuck in. Through extended pet and house sits, I’ve cared for multiple horses with different health requirements, including feeding, stabling, mucking out and administering oral medication.
I’m responsible, adaptable and comfortable working independently, while remaining happy to learn from others and be part of a team. My life experiences have taught me resilience and given me a real appreciation for opportunities to explore new paths.
I may still have plenty to learn, but I bring practical experience, an open mind and a genuine desire to contribute to the wellbeing of the horses in my care.”
