Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

  • Attended a summer riding camp in Wellington Riding School, England in 2017 for one week. I learnt how to tack up/untack, groom, muck out, feed, and carry out other general yard duties.
  • Attended another summer camp at Springhill Riding Farm, Wales in 2018 and 2019 each for 2 weeks. I did a lot of Stable hand experience as well as riding confidently on hacks, in arenas, independently, and as part of a group. Learnt about changing rugs, and turning in/turning out horses.
  • I have had 3 months volunteering experience at Desert Palm Equestrian Centre in Dubai in 2021 as a Stable Hand/Groom, for example, mucking out, grooming, feeding, picking out hooves, and bathing etc.
  • I have 10 years experience in riding. Also, I have some experience in receiving awards in show jumping and dressage competitions, whilst also having trained in cross-country. I have some experience riding in different countries (Italy, Australia, Dubai, England, and Wales) and in different environments. For example, endurance riding in the desert, riding hacks on the beach, riding hacks in the forest/in the open, and riding in an arena.
  • Completed paid work shifts at South Weylands Equestrian Centre, England in September and October in 2026. Helped with general yard duties in this riding school, including turning in/turning out horses, rugging, grooming, filling hay nets, mucking out, and assisted with a riding lesson doing a lead rein class.
  • I currently have a part-time once a week paid job at High Barn Enterprise, Badgers Farm, Surrey. I work as a Stable Hand carrying out general stable duties at this livery yard.

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

I’m confident at riding and exercising horses independently, both in the arena and out hacking. I’m comfortable walking, trotting, cantering and jumping, and I’ve ridden and handled horses of different breeds, ages and temperaments, including green horses along with older ones. I can also assist with riding lessons and I’m highly organised, efficient and hardworking, and I work well both independently and as part of a team. Moreover, I am naturally sociable, adaptable and comfortable working with different people and horses. I am from an international background; I am British and Italian, and was born in Dubai and lived there for 18 years, then moved to university in Newcastle, to then graduating and being now based in London. Therefore, I am highly adaptable to working in different weather conditions/temperatures, living in different countries, and travelling/commuting to different places. Furthermore, I speak fluent English and Italian.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

I have always loved horses and really enjoy spending time around them. I am highly passionate about both horse care, horse rescue, as well as horse riding. I enjoy getting to know their individual personalities, building a bond with them and understanding their different needs. I find being involved in their daily routine really rewarding. Additionally, I particularly like the part about getting to know their individual characteristics and personalities. It communicates your affection for horses while also showing that you appreciate them as individuals.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

I’d like to develop my stable-hand/groom skills further and gain more experience with the daily care and management of horses. I’d also love to work with a wider variety of breeds and gain more experience handling and riding young and green horses. I am always keen to learn from more experienced people/professionals, improve my horsemanship and become a more confident and well-rounded equestrian.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I have 10 years of riding experience, practical stable-hand experience and a genuine passion for horses in a variety of different stables. This includes, livery yards and riding school yards. As I grew up in the UAE, I have been exposed to competitive equestrian environments from the age of 9; therefore, I am a quick learner who is highly motivated, resilient, and determined to get the job done properly. Confident at riding independently, adaptable to different horses and situations, and happy to get involved in all aspects of daily stable life. I bring a positive attitude, a strong willingness to develop my skills and the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
