Experience with Horses
My name is Kim Dalton, i am 27 years old.
I have approximately 24 years worth of experience with horses.
I have;
- Previously been a member of pony club (for 3/4 years duration)
- Studied horses at Moulton college (for 2 years) doing Equine Management and Coaching resulting in a degree as well a basic first aid certificate and a level 1 coaching certificate.
- Graduated from The Royal Agricultural University after 3 years. (Studying Bloodstock and Performance Horse Management)
- Ridden just about every size, shape and temperament of horse.
- Employed as a groom/rider for a top level eventing yard for 5 years, along side working also as a groom/rider for a slightly lower but rapidly improving eventing yard.
- Worked on a young stock dealing/competition yard.
- Competed up to: 1.10m SJ, 1m BE and Novice DR
- Qualified for my equine first aid and BHS stages (PC stage C+)
- Worked part time temporarily as a racehorse exercise rider for 6 months.
- Any further information can be given upon request.
Key Skills
I enjoy working alone, but i am more than happy work in a group.
I’ll happily ride anything as well as doing my part with stable duties.
A quiet, but happy and friendly worker, who just likes to get on and get things done.
Strengths and Weaknesse
• Riding is what I enjoy doing the most, always looking to learn and improve.
- I am keen to improve certain skills such as clipping and plaiting. Although i can do these skills already there’s always room for improvement.
Requirements
- I would like to do something a bit different to your basic grooms job, so that i can acquire more skills and knowledge to take me forwards into my career with horses in the future.
- Depending on the location of the job, i may require accommodation.
- I do have a dog, who ideally needs to be able to come with me. He is a very well behaved and chilled out 3yr old Labrador, his only flaw is barking at strangers but is in no way aggressive.
