Experience with Horses

Outline your experience with horses here/the scope of your freelance services. If you’re looking for a non-equine or non- yard-based job please use this space to describe your experience skills/abilities and adapt the questions to suit your line of work.

I have been around horses majority or my life, and have worked with them for about 4 years now. I was previously at a riding school, where i was a main member of staff, and a level 2 apprentice (ridden path). There I did all the normally yard duties and took care of the horses: grooming, tacking up, mucking out, feeding/watering, turning in/out and got them ready for lessons.

I also volunteered for a rescue charity, this taught me to be calm, sympathetic, and understanding of horses. Again, my role was to maintain horse welfare, ensure that they are taken care of, and to report anything of concern.

I have experience owning as well— i have 2 horses of my own, one being a hot warmblood, so i have experience in handling this kind of temperament.

Key Skills

What are you particularly good at? For example: working alone, working with others, clipping, plaiting, turning out for shows, handling stallions, handling/riding young horses, non-equine skills etc

Handling, plaiting, trimming/ pulling, working along/ with others, fast working, grooming.

Strengths and Weaknesses

• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?

How rewarding it can be, and just being around them.

• Is there anything you’d like to improve?

My riding and experience in the competition world.

• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?

I am dedicated, sympathetic and hard working. Horse welfare and making sure they are taken care of to the highest level of standards is my no.1 priority. I am very quick to learn new things, and am always willing to learn/ try something new. I believe that there is no such thing as a “bad” horse— they are emotional animals, who feel just as much as we do, and i take that heavily into account when working with them.
