Experience with Horses
I have ridden since the age of 11 and have worked for various country properties within the Hertfordshire/ Worcestershire borders. my career started after my father passed away when I started to work on a stud farm in Gwent. This covered all aspects of the breeding side. The stallions were TBs. Cleveland Bays and sports horses. I gained valuable experience and this is where my passion grew. I left there after a short while mainly due to the traveling distance. From there I proceeded and worked at Point to Point yards being sole groom where I would exercise and groom up to 5 horses per morning.
I have owned six Tbs over my career with the last being sold four months ago.
I have also worked for three masters of hunt. When the foot and mouth disease hit , I found there were no jobs suitable for me . So relocated to Bristol where I have been carrying out administration work . But still have the passion for horses.
I ran my own livery yard while also working for the hunt masters , I feel that this was my dedication to the job
Currently I work for the NHS in Bath and feel it is time to get back out in the fresh air.
Skills
My skills are that I am patient around horses and care about the animal. with the animal and safety coming foremost , reliable and dedicated , Professional and polite. I can clip, plait, show turn out, stallion handling, young horse handler/rider as listed and would be happy to discuss further
Strengths
- What do you most enjoy about working with horses the most I enjoy is being at one with the animal and having that connection. the freedom. I find it therapeutic.
- What are you particularly good at? I believe I am skilled in many areas that are transferable, computer literate, financial skills, managerial skills, basic life support trained.
- Why else should employers consider you above any other job seeker? I believe that I should be considered for the positions above others because of the skills that I have above the candidates . EG . not only can I be the sole groom I can look after the property while owners are away , take responsibility for my own actions.
