Experience with Horses

My passionate dedication to working with horses has been life long, and is reflected in my pursuit to always put the horses first. I’ve grown from a position as a working pupil on a professional event yard, on to sole charge positions, managerial yard roles and now as a freelance rider on private and livery yards over the last decade. My freelance work includes covering holidays, exercising, day to day care competition and sales preparation for private clients. I have chosen to diversify myself in different disciplines to compliment, challenge and gain a variety of skills to provide a more comprehensive service to my employers and clients. My background is not limited to working with horses, and as you will see from my CV I have a breadth of experiences in other sectors which I believe enhances the skills I can bring to the table. I have experience in hunting, dressage & eventing and hold a BHS stage 2 complete with the view to continue these qualifications and hold a Class C clean licence. I have a specific interest in dressage but I equally enjoy all aspects and benefits a holistic approach has to the training of horses in all disciplines.

Key Skills

I work well independently in a sole charge role with individual responsibilities and enjoy the opportunity to work closely with a small number of horses to provide high quality care and training. I work harmoniously alongside others, either in management or collaboration, always seeking an efficient fair and productive working environment. I have the ability to turn horses out to a high standard and pride myself on my quiet but competent manner when handling a variety of personalities. I have extensive management experience in various fields outside of the equine industry which compliments my ability to work effectively in an organised and logical manner in the running of a yard and in managing teams and individuals. I enjoy the process of producing young performance horses and also seeking to find the best techniques, management and care for each horse as an individual to be able to excel in whatever discipline they are in. I have a broad understanding of how best to manage the care and production of a horse with the long term benefits in the forefront of my mind.

I am ambitious and will always seeks to challenge myself.

I am a perfectionist in the purest sense, which I have found to be restricting sometimes in that I prefer to know that I have the time and autonomy to produce my best work. I am often deeply focused on the detail and in some cases it does lead me to burn out. I often have to be careful to manage my time in order to find balance between my work and life sometimes over committing and struggling to say no when it’s necessary.

Requirements

• Further riding, training & competition opportunities
• Live out in close proximity of OX18
• Option to bring horse a bonus but not essential if other riding opportunities exist
• Well behaved and utterly charming cocker spaniel to be allowed at work with me
• Start date May 2024 onwards
• Part time/full time, short term/long term all considered
• Ideally looking for a 5 day week opportunity
• Also interested in administrative/management roles
