Experience with Horses
I’m currently working as a freelance groom/rider, visiting a range of clients in Somerset, exercising, schooling and grooming for them.
I have been self employed for over a year and a half now and have thoroughly enjoyed it even with the difficulty of the pandemic, however I am now looking for an employed job with horses based with one yard ideally.
I have a lot of experience and knowledge working with horses in different types of yards, including sole charge on family yards and competition yards.
I am a very motivated and determined individual ensuring I go above and beyond to put the health and welfare of the animals in my care first and I make sure that my work is completed to the best of my ability. With my experience and capability I have very high standards of turnout, from day to day and at competitions and shows.
I have owned horses and ridden my whole life, so I have a strong understanding of different natures and personalities. From starting pony club with riding and stable management at a young age to competing at county level showing, I have a very broad experience with every element involved, helping me gain knowledge to become a reliable and professional groom and rider.
Working with clients whilst being self employed has included producing and carrying out rehabilitation programs for injured horses and also having responsibility of liaising with vets, farriers, physios etc for the horses and this is something I am confident in doing.
Key Skills
I work well as part of a team but also I am very confident working on my own. I always ensure each task is completed to the best of my ability and that the horses welfare is my top priority.
I have a lot of experience in clipping, platting and turning out for events and shows. I have good experience handling different types of horses such as young, green horses.
Strengths and Weaknesses
• What do you most enjoy about working with horses?
I enjoy being around horses day to day and getting to know their individual personalities and quirks! I enjoy being able to make a difference in care and performance and also watch them develop and learn in different aspects.
• Is there anything you’d like to improve?
I’d like the opportunity to develop my teaching skills and gain qualifications in coaching.
• Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker?
I ensure that I listen to the owners instructions and preferences very carefully and I always make sure that I work and complete tasks and jobs to the best they can be. I always ensure that I put owners needs and their animals needs above anything else and will go the extra mile to help.
Requirements
• What would you like to do or gain in your next job?
