Experience with Horses
I have been working with horses for over 18 years, in which time I have trained and competed my own horse, alongside liveries in showjumping and eventing- up to 1.10cm, and to PSG in dressage. I am also experienced in backing and training young horses, including taking them to their first shows. I am very reliable and efficient on the yard, excellent general horse care, and a very good knowledge of first aid and recognising lameness.
Key Skills
I have 11 GCSE’s at at least B or above.
BHS Stages 1-3
Level 2 Diploma in Horse care
Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and education.
I am also very proficient at clipping, plaiting, trimming and overall horse care.
Strengths and Weaknesses
I love learning new things and having new experiences, I traveled to Botswana to volunteer at a horse safari for 3 months which I thoroughly enjoyed. I am very good at working as part of a team, as well as working on my own. Although I can’t really take credit, I also have an excellent immune system, and haven’t had more than a slight cold in the last 15 years.
As most of my experience has been with dressage horses I would like to broaden this by working with showjumping and eventing yards.
Requirements
I would need accommodation, and I also have two cats who are both used to horses, and are very well behaved (and help with mice). As well as a horse of my own, and a horsebox to take them out in. My horse and the box is half owned by my sister, who freelances. She currently lives with me at my work, and pays rent, so I would need to make arrangements with her.
