Experience with Horses
I have been riding since I was 6 years old and have been working with horses in various capacities to date. Some of the roles have included; Riding Instructor, Veterinary Technician, Estate manager, Shipping and safety representative.
Horses I have worked with include welsh ponies through to warmbloods, thoroughbreds and Arabians. My experience ranges from backing, schooling, re-schooling to competing regularly at 1m25+ in the middle east. I have worked on Military and civilian yards in a variety of places, gaining varied and invaluable experience.
Gained my BHS quals in 2006 and have been teaching a variety of clients ever since, ranging from military students to children.
Key Skills
Managing a team, showjumping, schooling, improving flatwork, working alone, working with others, pulling manes, trimming, clipping, plaiting, I am not super fast at mucking out but my stables are immaculate.
Strengths and Weaknesses
- What do you most enjoy about working with horses? I find it challenging yet rewarding, to be able to work with, gain trust and form a partnership with an animal is pretty special, which is something I like to try and pass on to anyone who I teach.
- Is there anything you’d like to improve? As an equestrian there is always something to improve. I would like to continue to improve my riding and my competition experience. I would also like to continue to expand on the knowledge base I already have in fields I have less experience in, e.g breeding
- Why should employers consider you above any other job seeker? I am extremely hard working and diligent and the horses always come first. I have experience working with high profile clients and understand how important discretion is. My military experience has taught my great work ethics and good morals making me an asset to any establishment.
Requirements
- Do you need accommodation? Yes. Once settled I could look for outside arrangements if accomodation wasn’t a longterm option.
- Do you have any special requirements for any animals you wish to bring with you? I have a wirehaired Vizlsa and my 23 yr old ex army warmblood who just does light hacking.
- Do you have any ongoing commitments? I am a certified animal safety representative for American Humane and if possible would like to continue to do a couple of days a month. In the middle of a house sale so no exchange/completion date as yet which could potentially impact start date.
- Do you have any holidays booked that an employer needs to know of? Not at present.
