Experience with horses
I have experience of managing large livery yards, stabled with over 50 horses. Some of my key responsibilities have included leading and mentoring a team through all aspects of equine husbandry so to ensure the care of all horses was met to a high standard at all times. Scheduling the day to day yard tasks, adapting to the needs of each individual horse where appropriate. Forward planning activities such as field changes, worming administration and feed / bedding orders. Being the key point of contact for the team and livery owners, dealing with all communication and listening to any concerns raised in a friendly, diplomatic and approachable way.
I pride myself in being able to recognize behavioral signals from the horses under my care which may indicate the start of a problem. I am experienced in administering basic health treatments without the need for assistants, such as applying leg wraps/bandages, treatments of small wounds, giving oral medications as well as being able to recognize when more advanced treatment is required and the animal needs to be referred to a trained veterinarian.
